Sheraton hires new leaders

Pyramid Hotel Group has appointed Schack von Rumohr as director of operations at the Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay and Vincent Robinson as director of food and beverage at the 22-acre oceanfront resort.

“We are excited to welcome Schack, a seasoned professional, back to Hawaii and more specifically, back into a leading role with the team here at Sheraton Kona,” said General Manager and Area Managing Director Steve Lindburg. “Vincent brings exactly the right skill set at exactly the right time to head up the resort’s many new initiatives in the food and beverage arena.”

Lindburg added that the job know-how of these directors, particularly following the resort’s completion of its $20-million renewal, will contribute to every guest’s quality experience while also providing leadership to the team of talented associates at Sheraton Kona.

Von Rumohr began his career studying and working in culinary arts in Germany. He moved to the United States and worked with Hyatt Hotels for 10 years where he held various positions, working his way up to manager. Von Rumohr has subsequently worked for Starwood, Wyndham, Marriott and Hilton hotels in Hawaii, Florida and the Caribbean.

As director of operations, his responsibilities at Sheraton Kona include supervision of numerous departments including food and beverage, security, engineering, front desk, concierge, guest services, housekeeping, and the new Flying Fish retail and activity outfitters. He will also assist the General Manager in administering and maintaining established budgets and quality standards.

Von Rumohr is married with two children and enjoys golf and surfing during his time off. “I look forward to volunteering in the community whenever I can, beginning with the Lavaman Keauhou Triathlon in November,” von Rumohr said.

Raised on Kauai, Robinson began his foray in hospitality as a busboy at the Kauai Hilton & Beach Villas. After attending the University of San Diego and University of Hawaii on Kauai, his career, now spanning more than twenty years, was furthered at upscale resorts including the Hilton Tucson El Conquistador Golf & Tennis Resort, The Phoenician and the Hotel Del Coronado.

Most recently, Robinson was assistant director of food and beverage at the Hilton Hawaiian Village on Oahu.

At Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa he now oversees all staff at Ainakai restaurant which serves breakfast daily, the new oceanfront Rays on the Bay which is open for cocktails and dinner nightly, Holua poolside bar and lounge open for lunch and cocktails daily, plus in-room dining, banquets and catering.

Robinson is married with two daughters and enjoys golf, hiking, surfing and snorkeling.

“In addition to reconnecting with classmates from my years at Hawaii Preparatory Academy in Waimea, I look forward to participating in as many community-based events as I can including beach clean-ups, food drives and the annual Hawaii Hotel Association Charity Walk,” Robinson shared.
